The Importance of the Environment

“The way in which I create myself is by means of a quest. I go out into the world in order to come back with a self.”
― Mikhail Bakhtin

“We are out of our heads. We are in the world and of it. We are patterns of active engagement with fluid boundaries and changing components. We are distributed.”

― Alva Noë, Out of Our Heads: Why You Are Not Your Brain, and Other Lessons from the Biology of Consciousness

From Embedded and Extended Cognitive POV our thinking, sensing, feeling, relating, acting cognitive abilities are intertwined with our environments, which can be physical, social, or cultural, and our interaction with objects, tools, and technologies in these environments which either can enhance the above cognitive capabilities, or we can even “off-load them” and which we are a witness to our cognitive action rather than the driver.

Below are photo stills and videos that ebb and flow between physical and cultural environments and landscapes in which I enmesh my body into.
